Tolleson, Arizona
Tolleson is a small town located almost in the geographic center of Maricopa County, on the western side of Phoenix. The town was founded in 1912 by WG Tolleson of South Carolina. These days, the town is located along a major east-west transportation corridor with Interstate 10 running very close to town and the main line of the Union Pacific running right through town, providing rail access to a number of industrial sites. That's part of why Sunland Beef, Albertson's, Krogers and Sysco Food Systems have built large warehouses and distribution centers in Tolleson. South and southwest of Tolleson are the 26,000-acre White Tank Regional Park and the 19,000-acre Estrella Mountain Park. And just southwest of Tolleson in Avondale is the Phoenix International Raceway.
