The restored church in El Rito
El Rito was one of the first Spanish settlements in northern New Mexico. The oldest church in New Mexico is here, restored to its' original splendor back in the 1980's. This is a beautiful little valley on the El Rito, surrounded by Carson National Forest. The National Forest has a Ranger District office in El Rito.
El Rito is also home to the El Rito campus of Northern New Mexico College.
