Sun Valley, Idaho |
Bald Mountain, home of the Sun Valley Ski Resort |
Sun Valley was established as a ski resort when it was opened by Averill Harriman (Chairman of the Board of the Union Pacific Railroad) in 1936. It was an instant hit among the celebrities of the time and is still a world-renowned draw, although now the area is a full four season resort. The town itself is composed of many second or third homes, as most of the "residents" fly in on a regular basis from places like Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago and New York. |
