Lyon County is in western central Nevada with California to the southwest and Carson City to the west. Lyon County was named for General Nathaniel Lyon, who died fighting in the Civil War in Missouri in 1861. Lyon County contains 1,994 square miles of land and 23 square miles of water. The county seat is Yerington. |
